Def IV, Get Busy, Nice and Hard, Rap-A-Lot Records 1989

Here’s the second cut featured from Def IV’s album Nice and Hard. Get Busy starts off with a simple loop from James Brown’s “Funky President” then gets powered by Rufus's Funky Penguin break. The chorus gets Lifted by George McCrae as the track continues to drop sample snippets all over the place making it a great example of the cut and paste aesthetic. The rhymes are on point and powered with youthful energy. It’s all about the "busy-ness" where Def IV delivers yet another gem from this lost album.

Keep an eye out cuz you might turn up this track which was released as a 12” single. Yo Rap-A-Lot, if you’re listening, reissue this record for the peoples… PLEASE!
